Pinball machines are awesome.

As I would imagine was the case with most boys who grew up in the eighties, I loved video arcades. I was particularly fond of pinball machines; there was something mesmerizing about the steel ball zipping back and forth across the playfield and banging into things that interested me more than the video cabinets. In fact, it would have always been my dream to own a pinball machine if it hadn't only recently come to my attention that owning one was a reasonable sort of thing to do.

After trolling craigslist for a few months, I stumbled across a listing for a 1979 Stern Meteor. While I was dissappointed that it didn't have ramps, the price was right and it was in need of repair which was exactly what I was looking for.

Before I started any repair work, the entire cabinet had to be cleaned inside and out. The pictures of the stripped playfield below show how dirty the game had become after years of use.

More to come soon on the restoration as well as some after photos.
